Its a year since I (Mr Green) took over from Master Gellard. In that time the club has almost doubled in size and we have had a 100% success rate in our gradings with 3 new black belts. This is not just my efforts, but our students have been simply amazing. Parents have been encouraging, Mr Gellard has been very supportive, Mr Evans, Mr Skinns (Simon and Joe), Mrs Jerffries and other instructors in the South West from Andover, Southampton, Romsey, Fordingbridge, Verwood, Chippenham, Plymouth and many more, have all been awsome. I have been very humbled by all the support and how people have reacted. This next year will be one of growth and improving basics, and maybe more tournaments?
It was a surprise to be presented with an amazing Cake baked by Mrs Cripps (one of our parents). It was eaten quickly at the end of the lesson.
It wouldn't be right if we didn't acknowledge the distraction and risk of the recent Covid-19 virus. I hope that we all get through this safely and if we dont have symptoms, continue to train. It must not affect our resolve - we must persevere and help each other.
The future for Basingstoke TAGB Tae Kwon-Do club is in our hands. Its not my club its OUR club and we all need to pull together. We should aim to progress, be better practitioners, be more confident, consider others and above all enjoy ourselves!
Thank you for all your support. We will create a better club, nurture better students and positive approach will continue to make the south west more inclusive, more caring and the best in the country. #southwestfamily
Never give up, stay focused and as my old instructor used to say (tongue in cheek of course) deal with it!
2020 will bring out the best in Basingstoke.
Its a real pleasure to teach you and know you all.
