BRING YOUR A GAME

Writer: Basingstoke TAGBBasingstoke TAGB

Mastering taekwondo techniques requires overcoming various obstacles, both physical and mental. Here’s how you can navigate these challenges to perfect your skills for your upcoming grading!

Set clear Goals

Start with specific, achievable goals. Break down complex techniques into manageable steps. For instance, if you're struggling with a high kick, focus first on flexibility, then balance, and finally, the kicking motion itself.

Consistent Practice

Regular practice is essential. Consistency builds muscle memory and strength. Create a routine that is specific to your weaknesses. Dedicate time to each weakness to ensure your skills are evenly developed.

Seek Feedback

Constructive criticism from instructors and peers is invaluable. They can provide insights you might miss, helping to correct mistakes early on. Don’t shy away from asking for feedback and be open to making adjustments based on their suggestions.

Mental Toughness

Mental toughness is crucial in Tae kwon-do. Overcoming frustration and staying motivated during setbacks are part of the journey. Practice mindfulness and stay positive as mental toughness is only developed by doing things you do not want to do like that move you struggle with in your pattern.

Celebrate Progress

Acknowledge your achievements, no matter how small. Celebrating milestones keeps you motivated and reminds you of the progress you’ve made!

Best of luck with your grading,

Martyn.
